Hey guys! I'm back! So did you guys visit Porn's? If you guys did, I hope it's a pleasant trip for you guys!
So as stated in my title, Mellben Seafood. Had a super sumptuous meal that day over at their AMK outlet. Crab lovers can't possibly NOT know Melben Seafood. Those using iPhones you can download an app called ieat hawker. They gave Melben a 4 star out of 5, pretty disappointed with the ratings. Let me show you.
Didn't manage to catch hold of any decorations of the shop. Especially the wall with lots of crab shells on it! You all can see that WOW wall when you all visit. I'm sorry for the not so good quality photos. I must declare that I forgot to bring my camera out that day.
Realise I did not include the price for the crabs? Seafood got seasonal price, meaning it actually differs at different season. I had those crabs @ SGD50/kg. Just a reference, it may differ.
No dessert for the day, because we're all filled to the brim. So now, a lot of people will be asking, restaurant or hawker centre? It's actually more of a restaurant I should say. Having staffs to serve, having their own kitchen, the whole shop on its own. Just that they do not run it in posh areas. Ambiance, I will give a 8/10, as it is a totally clean place to dine in comfortably(that's why more suited as a restaurant). Their wall decorations that's very impressive. However, they might want to write some signs at the area where they put their crabs. Because I mistook the place for us to wash hands. Oops! Service staff quite friendly, other than them being impatient as they kept asking whether we are ready to take order, when not all of us arrived. Their toilet areas are kept clean and there's several tap for you to wash your hands!
I find that it's good to dine in with family or friends. Big group and afraid of tables not big enough? Fret not! They have big round tables! However, you might need to make a reservation or arrive before 7pm! If not wait long long for your turn! Haha. So after reading this, tempted to visit them? Do so now!

First up, their deep fried tofu @ SGD8,10,15.
Different size, different price.
The first bite of this, it's crispy and the tofu in it is SUPERB SOFT.
It's deep fried and when you deep fry something, you have to be very careful of the timing and the temperature of the oil. Never doubt. The cook's good at it.
Look at the outer skin, not burnt and it's amazingly cooked inside, furthermore so soft!
MUST TRY!
Sambal Kang Kong @ SGD8,10,15.
I'm sure this is a must have dish in any tzi-char stall.
Sweet & sour chicken @ SGD15,20.
It's another MUST have dish in any tzi-char stall. However, I can guarantee a superb tasty ones here.
This dish can be super sour due to the tomato sauce if you could not grasp the amount to be added.
For this dish, it's never easy for the chicken/pork meat to be crispy as it's fried before. Because there's the tomato gravy that comes with it. But hey, trust me, Mellben serve super good crispy, their sweet and sour compliment each so well that it doesn't clash.
If you notice, their cucumber don't look soft. There's places whereby their cucumber taste like winter melon?
Now... Crabs!
Salted egg crabs.
I do eat salted egg crabs elsewhere too and realise their crabs shrink after cooking. Because it's a frying method, it's so dry that it totally wells up the water nutrients in the crab if they were to cook/fry it for a long time. However, when I consume on the salted eggs at Mellben, you can still feel the water nutrients in it. But not to compare with those Chilli crabs or crabs that's cooked in gravy. People usually say, fresh food do not need much garnishing to make it palatable. The more ingredients you use to cook it, you're trying to cover up the not fresh side of the food. Total tasty sweet crab meat. Normally the pincers will have lots of meat and the other parts will be like eat a bit and throw off. BUT THIS GOT LOTS OF MEAT I TELL YOU.
The 7 of us got a hard time finishing 2 crabs and the other food. Haha.
Wah! 招牌! MUST MUST MUST HAVE THIS ONE WHEN YOU VISIT!
Crab Bee Hoon.
Tell me you did not order this when you visit, you're just slapping yourself.
They are the 招牌 for a good cause, humans.
Super robust feeling. The soup's super rich with milk taste and you can taste a tinge of spiciness in it.
So you can imagine sweet and a tinge of spicy taste. Totally awesome!
The beehoon can totally absorb the soup into it and it tastes FANTASTIC. Like drinking the soup while eating the bee hoon when in actual fact it's just EATING.
Then needless to say, their crab is super huge and super muscular, full of meat!
The fresh and sweet taste of the crab just makes you crave for more!
(Just by talking about it, I miss the crabs and food there! *Wipe mouth*)

I believe a lot of Singaporeans heard of this restaurant called Porn's. Yes! The sexy Thai food restaurant opened by Pornsak, our local celebrity.It's initially opened as Pornsak misses food from his hometown, and till now they have a total of 4 outlet now. 1 more outlet coming soon! I visited the one at Liang Seah Street.
So now let me introduced what I had that night at Porn's!

So now let me introduced what I had that night at Porn's!
Their cute design. An elephant's butt!
Lemongrass drink! It's a super refreshing drink, with lots of crashed ice in it.
Some oldies will say this drink is damn heaty, but I suppose the crashed ice brings down the heatiness!
@ a cost of SGD4.50
Coconut drink. It's another refreshing drink too. But it's not heaty and in fact it's a thirst-quencher!
It's really fresh and you can eat the coconut flesh. It's so soft that you poke it with the straw it will just fall off.
So it's like drinking those canned coconut juice that got the coconut flesh in it.
BUT IT'S TOTALLY FRESH! Amazing not?

Green Mango Salad! Greatly recommended!
Y'know there's places whereby they use super sour mango for Mango Salad.
In Porn's, on the scale of 1-10 and 10 being the most sour. I will give a 6.
The sourness/ripeness will be just nice. Their peanut bits serving was good.
If there's a lot of peanut bits, you will find it too overwhelming and covering the mango. Did yo notice they have the brown strips on top of the Salad? That's Fried Codfish Strips. Super fragrant and goes well with the salad. It's actually a snack.

Tom yum Goong Seafood.
They have different Tom Yum Goong, like fish, prawn, chicken. For those who cannot take spicy food, you can choose your spiciness level! How awesome?
There's prawns, sotong, fish, tomatoes, etc. Do you realise the color of the soup is super clear?
Don't judge a book by it's cover, it's pretty spicy!
All the ingredients used are super fresh. Authentic Tom Yum they serve! (Y)

Pad Thai! It's a must have food whenever you visit Thailand.
But hang on, when there's Porn's why travel so far?
The kway tiao is SUPERB! It's not those normal Char Kway Tiao's kway tiao.
Super soft yet not easy to break. Soft and smooth.
Highly recommended!

Sticky Rice with Mango.
The love of the night. The mango is super sweet! Sticky rice is warm. When you combine the mango and the sticky rice together and eat it, the taste is a combination of sweet and a little bit of salty. You can never imagine how wonderful the combination is. Totally fantastic! On top of the sticky rice will be a specialty coconut milk by their dessert's chef. Yummy!

Ambiance wise, I feel that lighting's good. Not too dim and not too bright. Their sun roof got a bind to cover up the sunlight in the afternoon and serves a good decoration purpose too. The cushion seats mount onto the wall is a good idea. As people can just place their things beside them on the cushion seats. The space between tables are just nice too. Great enough for people to walk pass. The toilet is clean, but a tad too small of tally. Because the ceiling's too low.
In terms of service, their service crew did a great job in serving. Upon entering the shop, the staffs were all wearing a great smile and welcoming customers into Porn's. They answer to all my needs promptly even though there's a buzzing crowd in the shop. They are very alert to what you need, like to refill your plain water or clearing of plates.
After viewing all those foods posted, do you feel like trying it out?
